George and I arrived back in the States a couple of weeks ago. George is already in California visiting with his family. It sounds like he has made significant progress in dining at some of his favorite eating establishments. After all, he has been away for almost three years. I am staying with my parents in Michigan and will join George toward the end of October. I am staying busy by helping my parents around the house. My dad just had knee replacement surgery about a week ago. He is doing well but recovery is a long, slow process. While here, I am also reconnecting with family and friends and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather and amazing display of fall colors. Even though we are glad to be back home, we miss our friends and family back in Uganda. Re-adjusting to life back here can also be a little overwhelming at times.
We anticipate that we will be here for a more extended period of time which will allow us to catch up more with family and friends than in our past visits. We plan on staying at least through the holidays, but the length of our stay will really depend upon how quickly we can raise the financial support needed to return to the mission field. We expect that we will be traveling quit a bit as we are seeking opportunities to share our new direction and vision for ministry in Uganda.
